Why I Will Always Cheer On My Mini Rebel

My littlest boy provides endless content for my blog. He's cheeky, spirited, stubborn, willful and hilarious all rolled into one. No one has quite perfected the art of winding up their placid and peace-loving sibling quite like him. He was born with a mischievous glint in his eye and it shines as brightly today as it ever has. He's a bundle of boundless energy, with a surplus of giggles and cuddles to bestow on the world, yet with a rebellious streak that accompanies his cheeky cackle, one that is reserved for the naughtiest of misdemeanors. If you hear it, get out of the way quick!

And yet, though some days are filled with the word 'no', with time-outs and distractions, I'm being careful not to completely tame the wildness in him or to stunt his gloriously happy and carefree spirit because I see in him someone the world needs. Someone who won't be afraid to fight for what's right (and yes at age two, this is currently just a chocolate biscuit), to have the courage of his own convictions and to shower the people around him with the kind of happiness they need. And if I get it right or just a bit right at least, then one day that mischievous glint in his eye will carry him forward and I know he will make waves in all the right places.

So, my little rebel, my cheeky and happy little Squish, I'll teach you right from wrong, I'll keep you safe and I'll love you unconditionally but you're free to fly.

And you make my heart soar.

  1. Ahhh this is lovely - my daughter was a rebel too and I think it's better to be a rebel than a wet lettuce isn't it! Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub x
