Summer is in full swing (let's just ignore this week's wind and rain!) and there is really nothing better than warm, lazy evenings spent in the garden sipping a delicious white wine! This week I have been sampling the beautiful Malvirà Saglietto Arneis 2016 | Roero DOCG courtesy of Independent Wine. This wine is fresh and fruity; a chilled glass of this exceptional wine is the perfect accompaniment for those golden summer evenings!
This wine has delicious flavours of peach, white flower and grapefruit. It has a deliciously fruity flavour and I believe it would beautifully compliment a variety of meals including a selection of fish dishes, vegetables, cheeses and meats. It can of course, and if preferred, be enjoyed alone!
Through the accompanying notes on the Malvirà Saglietto Arneis 2016 | Roero DOCG, I was able to learn more about the region, grape and vineyard behind this beautiful wine. This wine is named “Saglietto” after a vineyard in Roero that overlooks the valley of the Tanaro river. The producer Malvirà is the most influential in Roero. The winery is organic certified and carbon neutral. It is located deep underground making use of geothermal heating and cooling systems! The additional notes on the wine also state the awards this wine has received; Gambero Rosso: 2 bicchieri (2009 vintage); 1 bicchieri (2010 vintage) | Vinbuoni: 3 stars. It's not hard to see why this lovely wine is worthy of an award!
