Dear Cbeebies,
Yesterday the four of us went to the Cbeebies Panto and it was every bit as magical as we could have hoped for. I'm even going to say that it was the highlight of the year! Apart from the fact it was a wonderful show with great performances and catchy tunes aplenty, there's another reason why the day meant so much.
From the moment I became a mum, nearly six years ago, Cbeebies has been a happy part of our lives, like a friend that pops round for a cuppa and a piece of cake. When my eldest was a baby he would be soothed by the music he heard on there, often stopping crying and listening intently. As he got older he would be captivated by the stories he watched, he would giggle along with the presenters and dance around the room to the happy tunes. My youngest little boy spends his days travelling back in time to meet dinosaurs, thinking up fantastic, exciting adventures, equipped with his gizmo, binoculars, hat and backpack, I have to gently remove these once he's fallen asleep!
Cbeebies has helped to teach them about the world around them, introducing them to different cultures and celebrating diversity. It shows children that every individual is unique and special. They see examples of people being kind, people sharing and people making friends. And while these are all qualities I have been encouraging from the start, it's great to know Cbeebies has my back!
And so when we settled down to watch the show yesterday, it really was the ultimate treat for us, for me. Thank you for being there through those long yet blink-and-you-miss-it baby days, for the rainy days when we snuggled up under a blanket, for the lonely days when we were in the house by ourselves and for every normal day in between.
Love Jen
