Travel To Florida For A Weekend Getaway That's Destined To Please

Travelling to Florida is usually on most people’s bucket lists. It's a magnificent place to visit, and there are lots of cities in this state that tend to fly under the radar. Those of you with a knowledge of Florida may well have deduced the pun in the title! Yes, if you’re looking for a weekend getaway that’s destined to please, then Destin is your best bet.

For those that still don’t get the pun, Destin is a city in Florida that’s become very popular for short breaks away. This is mainly because it’s a little slice of paradise that offers beautiful beaches, a calm atmosphere, and relaxing vibes. Speaking of which, here are some things to do during your weekend getaway in Destin, Florida.

Shop Til You Drop

Destin is a great place to go if you’re interested in a bit of retail therapy. For me, if I’m going on a long weekend getaway, then I like to do things to help relieve me of stress and get me feeling nice and happy. Shopping does just that, and there are a plethora of great retail outlets to choose from in this Floridian city. Some of the main highlights include  Silver Sands Premium Outlets and HarborWalk Village - but there are still loads of other ones you can check out as well.

Stay Near One Of The Beaches

One of the main reasons to come to Destin for a weekend getaway is the sheer range of gorgeous beaches. They’re famous for them, and you need to ensure you find a hotel right next to one. Something like the Courtyard Sandestin at Grand Boulevard will do nicely as it’s near the sumptuous sandy Miramar Beach. When you stay near the beach, you can wake up in the morning, look out at the stunning sea view, and then trot down for a spot of sunbathing - perfection!

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park

Like I said; a weekend getaway needs to be nice and relaxing. What better way to relax than taking a trip to the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park? It’s a relatively small adventure park that’s full of some stunning marine life. There are daily dolphin shows, sea lions, and even some giant turtles. It gives you a chance to see some of the local marine life and provides a good couple of hours of fun to help you unwind. Speaking of which, it’s well worth having a look in the ocean whenever you’re down at one of the many beaches on the coast. Why? Because you may be able to get a glance at some local dolphins swimming around. It’s a wonderful sight, and yet another way to enjoy this city.

As far as weekend getaways go, it doesn’t get a lot better than Destin. It has everything you could possibly ask for, all rolled into one lovely city. The beaches are definitely the standout feature, but there’s no shortage of other things to do when you’ve finished sunbathing. So, head there for a few days, and return with a tremendous tan and a great deal of stress off your shoulders. Or, if you want to extend your stay, then Florida in general is a great family holiday destination to think about this year.
